We struggle with so many things throughout our life. This week wanted to look more at the misconception that things bring us happiness and why we start pursuing things that actually make us more unhappy.
The root of it all is the same as when we use drugs or alcohol. At first, it is kind of nice we have a drink and may not even finish it but when we go through our day without intention, we can often find ourselves not having one beer but one case of beer. That amount of alcohol just keeps climbing. We may go from beer to whisky and at first it is mixed with something but eventually goes to on the rock. If we don’t pay attention we can find ourselves getting blasted every night all because we are not looking at why we are drinking. What thoughts are we avoiding because we are getting drunk each night?
We start going down the path of victimhood. Blaming our wife for leaving us. It didn’t have anything that when you get drunk you become verbally mean. She just doesn’t care about you. You have no idea why she left.
The narrator in today’s video expresses this in the same way as social media likes and has an impact on why you started the account in the first place. So why are you doing what you are doing? What is it about that activity that seems to actually bring you down that causes you to keep using? These are all questions you have to ask yourself. Why, is the big question. Why keep doing the same thing day in and day out that doesn’t actually bring you fulfillment? If you can answer that you will be on the path of changing your habits and knowing more about yourself.
