This week’s video is from Steve Harvey. Yeah, the guy from Family Feud. His Motivational speeches are some of my favorites to listen to. Steve has a down-home way of looking at life and speaking in a way that feels as if he is speaking to me.
This message is about how you need to have faith that you are going to go places. If you want to get out of your small one-horse town you have to believe that you will get out. Yet you don’t stop there. You take the steps needed to get out of there. The hope and faith will come if you take the steps needed to achieve what you want.
Imagination is the preview of lives coming attractions. Steve points out a huge dream killer. That is that you don’t want to tell your dreams to a small-minded person. That person could be a well-meaning family member or a friend. Yet they will give you every reason they can come up with as to why that dream will fail.
Why? because that dream isn’t theirs. They cant see your dream. It is inside your head, not theirs. So they can’t see the possibilities that lay before you. They can only see the possibilities that lay before them. Your dreams are yours, and only yours. Your mom may have her own dreams for you, but if you believe her dream and deny yours you will be miserable and trapped. You will feel resentment and you won’t even be able to explain why you feel that way. That is because you are not living your dream.
This is true for any age. Not just the young bucks reading this. This is true for the greybeards reading and watching this too. The only time you are too old to pursue your dream is when they close the casket lid on your body. Till then you need to be pushing. Don’t give up. Don’t give in. Keep reaching because even if you die you died reaching for that dream. That is nobler than the person who didn’t even try.
