Why do we need self discipline? We often want to improve but we fail because we don’t feel like it
Lean in to resistance it is interacting with your thoughts not your feelings.
There are 6 ways to add self-discipline
Focus on Internal Identity
Don’t worry about the external effect but look at your internal identity. Think of talking about yourself as who you want to be. Describe yourself as an athlete, an ex-smoker, or something along those lines
Create Reminders
Reminds yourself why you want to make those changes. This will help you to keep your goal in the front of your mind and why you are busting your butt. This will help to keep you focused and disciplined.
Embrace the Suck
I have mentioned this many times and our speaker Thomas Frank backs up the whys yet again. Discomfort is not fun but the results are so worth it. So you may want to follow his lead and take a cold shower.
Target the fundamentals
These are the basics of life. Sleep, food and exercise. You are a collection of biological systems and they work together.
Practice Zazen
In other words, this is meditation. Why? Well, Thomas explains that meditation helps increase your levels of self-discipline.
Build some habits
If you want to build better self-discipline building new habits often requires you to use self-discipline.
