Sarri explains some important tools that we all have in our toolbox. The biggest is the ability to say Yes or No. She explains how many times when you set a boundary will cause people to feel emotion. Stormy emotions can be stressful. Especially when they hear no. She shows how stress causes people to lose their ability to say yes or no with confidence.
Sarri gives some great points in that this internal compass will not give you details but it won’t lead you astray. The hardest part of this is trusting your compass. Sarri also explains that though setting boundaries frees you of so much stress, it isn’t stress-free. There is a brief amount of stress when you are setting a boundary. Good boundaries are the self-care cure for all of the stress. You can take better care of yourself and have more of the time being stress-free if you listen to that internal Yes/No Compass and set the needed boundaries.
Sarri talks about her Workaholic alter ego. She explains how if she listens to her compass she can let that workaholic be and still able to relax. Yet you will also have problems with people and events that are pushing your boundaries. Choose your responsibilities and time carefully. You have to make a choice of what you are going to be responsible for.
