Why is it that you can’t get the gumption to get out and find out what you are called to do? What is holding you back? Today’s video is by Cole Hastings and he was running into the same problem in his younger years. He was just a sophomore in College and was questioning his why.
Now I do want to say it is good to start finding your why, Your calling, your purpose, whatever you want to call it, as soon as possible. Yet in all reality, I don’t normally expect men to start fully questioning this till they are 35 years old or older. This is simply because in your 20’s you are just getting life figured out. You are still busy trying to push the lines and see what is acceptable. Men often don’t fall into the mode of questioning their life choices till after 30. Yet some men do have the internal microphone turned on and they start questioning their soul sooner than others. While others, like myself, don’t start till they are around 45 or later.
Now Cole has some great points. Men do what to evolve themselves. They do want to grow. Yet sadly the world that they live in often holds them back. You have the sleepy parents who gave up on trying before the kiddo decided what he wanted to do. The parents just settle into their lot in life. Don’t embrace what could be till much later when they start wondering what could have been.
Cole talks about what will make them happy in the long run and I will attribute that to Coles’s age. Happiness comes along as you find fulfillment in your life. So to search for what makes you happy doesn’t work because outside experiences can’t make you happy but your own sense of fulfillment will. Yet Cole has some great insights and ways of thinking and I like where he goes on his thoughts around the sad seeking to be validated. This is a huge problem for most people not just men but women also. We all are struggling to get external validation and that feeling of validation doesn’t happen. That is because we have to validate ourselves and that is more valuable but harder to do.
