You want to be happy right? Right? You hear people talk about how they want to be happy yet time and time again you see them doing stuff that makes them unhappy. They are constantly going over to a “Friends” house only to leave an hour later mad and stomping around. They are always doing something for a person who disrespects them.
I see nice guys doing this all the time. they sacrifice their joy for someone else’s benefit. It is almost as if they hate being happy. Yet they stand around crying that they just want to be happy. Then why are people trying to be happy if they don’t want to be happy?
That is a question that is not easy to understand, and this week’s video puts forward the thought that it may be because we are afraid to be happy. Strange thought I agree yet if you sit back and think about it you see how they are correct. people initially fear that something bad is going to happen when they have a big win. It’s going too smoothly, is often said when they are waiting for the shoe to drop.
Many times we want to stay unhappy because we want to accolade martyrdom which makes no sense. Why sacrifice yourself? Why sacrifice your joy, happiness, your mental health for someone or a group of someones who actually don’t care if you make them happy or not? The narrator points out that many times it is out of a sense of camaraderie that we have to worry. Our tribe doesn’t let good things happen. we are always prepared for the worse, and so we will ignore the happiness.
People may think that suffering is the way a human finds happiness. and to a point that is true yet to ignore the joy you get for delaying satisfaction is what people are getting at with that means of thought. Not that you are to endlessly toil and not have any joy or satisfaction in your life.
Many times when the suffering people finally have a moment of good luck where something is going well. They actually feel horrible and panic because that isn’t a normal state. they are used to being in a state of panic or worry or depression. Yet they could not even embrace the idea that they found love or happiness because that is wrong in their eyes.
