Living life on your terms. We hear this all the time. In fact, that is part of my objective is the help men live their life on their terms. What does that mean, to live one’s life on their terms? It almost sounds a bit rude. Yeah, it can appear to be rude but it is the most loving thing you can do for yourself, and those around you.
So what does it mean “to live your life on your terms”? It is actually a bit easier than many want to think. You have a choice of doing something scary and exciting or go attend your 9-5. That hunger for doing something but not doing it because you want to do something else. Again this isn’t about shelving your responsibility but listening to what your inner voice says and you ignoring that.
It is the painter who became an architect simply because his mom wanted him to become an architect. That man denies his inner creator. Yeah, he may get to do some drawing at work but is he drawing what he likes? To find a way to make a good living doing what you want.
This isn’t just stopping and doing nothing. You have a purpose that benefits the world. What is the purpose? Live your life pursuing that purpose and living life to its fullest. Living your life true to who you are. Not to who your parents want you to be, not who you believe society wants you to be. This is one reason why I believe so many dentists leave the profession after a few years. You could be a nonprofit that makes the miserable laugh not just feed them.
