Steven Covey wrote a book that is a great foundation on how to be a good leader. That book is the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. In this book Steven lays out the different habits found in effective leaders. These habits are as follows.
- Be Proactive
- Begin with the End in Mind
- Put First Things First
- Think Win-Win
- Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood.
- Synergize
- Sharpen the Saw
Now this video for this week is about the fifth habit. Seek first to understand, before being understood. This habit is great for resolving any misunderstandings. This is because you are fully understanding where the other person is coming from.
When you understand the other person and fully appreciate their, “why” you can actually have a better relationship with that person. It doesn’t matter what side of the aisle they are on. You have a full and complete understanding and this opens the door for them to want to understand you.
